Microphones
After trying many different combinations of microphones and audio interfaces we have narrowed microphone selection down to a few setups that work really well with Dragon for Mac. Based on your budget we recommend choosing one of the following options:
Plantronics C435-M
Pros
- cheap
- good accuracy
- good for use at home or in a quiet environment
- no need for a soundcard or audio input device
- portable
Cons
- not very noise canceling
- not for use in noisy environments
- seems to have a slight "hiss" in the headphones
Sennheiser ME-3 + SpeechWare USB Multi-Adapter
Pros
- extremely good noise canceling - the best (If you work in a noisy environment choose this one)
- extremely good accuracy
- fairly portable
Cons
- some people don't find it the most comfortable
- requires the SpeechWare USB Multi-Adapter or Roland R-26 in order to work (because it requires plug-in power to provide voltage for its microphone)
- expensive
SpeechWare FLEXYMIKE + SpeechWare USB Multi-Adapter
Pros
- good noise canceling
- extremely good accuracy
- fairly portable
- very comfortable to wear
Cons
- requires the SpeechWare USB Multi-Adapter in order to work
- expensive
- not quite as good noise canceling as the Sennheiser
- expensive
